7 feminist illustrators you need to follow on Instagram

We know you’re scrolling through Instagram every hour and seeing the same selfies, animal pics and makeup tutorials. So here we have lined up seven of the most fabulous feminist illustrators to inject your Insta feed with a little passion and politics.
This digital zine, founded by artist Alison Rachel, is a platform to express powerful messages through a collective of illustrations. The zine is available via Etsy, however it’s beautifully drawn illustrations are presented on Instagram. It showcases a diverse girl gang in beautiful neutral tones, Recipes for Self Love addresses body confidence, women’s sexuality and spreading love to all women.
Florence Given is a London based artist and fashion student at London College of Fashion. Branding T-shirts and prints with her powerful message, through bold coloured illustration. Her images explore themes of sexuality, self-esteem and sexism. If powerful messages and powerful images are what you want, Florence Given will be your go to.
3. @venuslibido
Venus is an illustrator based in the south of england. Her work reflects her own irritations with the world, unpicking issues of mental health, feminism and self love through her colourful illustrations. Catching the attention of Rihanna and as a result, the world, Venus Libido challenges her consumers to think about the issues of today’s society. Side note: She also creates penis shaped candles and vagina shaped necklaces.
Danish illustrator Slinga creates cute yet expressive line drawings that tackle body confidence, feminism and self love. Her drawings have been printed onto t-shirts, postcards and stickers, so her consumers can take her endearing characters everywhere. Her Instagram posts may be mostly written in Danish, but her illustrations speak for themselves.
Melbourne artist, Frances Cannon has been featured in the pages of i-D, Spindle magazine and Howl Magazine New York. Her illustrations have been printed, embroidered and tattooed onto a variety of items. Often with unshaved legs, her charming ink line character tackles topics of love, hair removal and mental health. You’ll learn to love yourself and Frances.
Illustrator Alice Skinner uses bright colours and interesting shapes to express her pro-feminism messages. Some of these illustrations have a modern abstract feel to them. Presenting her work via Instagram and her Tumblr page WHO THE F**K IS ALICE?, her range of illustrations are inspired by the likes of Picasso and current global issues.
Accompanying her illustrations, she speaks about the boundaries women face in today’s world. With her red and pink illustrations and powerful words of wisdom, she begins a conversation on a variety of important topics surrounding what it is to be a woman today.
